Notification
- If a competitor errs and the committee recites the verse without a prior notice, that mistake is considered a notification = a half a point deduction.
- If competitor answers the verse correctly after the committee gave the notification, he doesn’t lose a point—rather just the half point for the notification.
- Competitors are informed twice; each notification is a half a point deduction. If he doesn’t get the verse, it’s recited for him and a full point is deducted in addition to the previous deductions, and in these following places:
- Mistake in the beginning of the question
- Mistake during recitation
The following mistakes result in 1 point deduction:
- If he stops at a word and doesn’t know what is following, after being given a change (5-7 seconds), if he doesn’t get the answer, it is recited for him.
- Lahn Jaliyy (major error) such as changing the letter in a word, or changing a vowel will result in a 1 point deduction
Half a point will be deducted and he will not be notified in the following places:
- Falling short in the rules of Tajweed (such as Ghunnah, Qalqalah, shortening the obligatory Madd)
- Repeated a lahn khafiyy (minor error) twice or more in the same question
- Stopping a ‘bad stopping’ or starting a ‘bad start’ (changing the meaning)
The point for a good voice is to be given according by the judges according it their perception
